Unique Wedding Rings

Friday, July 16th, 2010

The practice of giving and wearing a wedding ring dates back thousands of years. A wedding ring symbolizes faithfulness and love between two people and are given on the day of a couple joining forces. Before the time that the knowledge of how to work metal became widely known, people used such things as plants, grass and even hair to ‘tie the knot’, which is what I think a wedding ring stands for.

These days a typical wedding ring might be made from valuable metals such as gold, titanium, platinum or even white gold. Women’s wedding rings often hold a diamond, although sapphires are rapidly becoming more prevalent. Men’s wedding rings are often just a plain band of gold. There are many distinctive styles of wedding rings, but the most popular for men is definitely the plain gold band.

For those who want something a bit more flamboyant, there are plenty of examples on the market. A man might want a more grandiose wedding ring, because it is often the only piece of jewellery that a man wears. Some alternatives to the plain band of gold are the Celtic Knot and the Claddagh gold rings.

It is essential for men’s wedding rings to be made from a robust alloy of gold. Most men do manual labour of one sort or another, even if it is only gardening, so it is a lot to ask of a pure gold wedding ring to last thirty or forty years.

A 14 or 18 carat gold ring will probably manage it, but a 22 carat ring would not. It would just wear away because it is too pure and consequently too soft. Platinum or titanium are much harder, although most people have a preference for gold.

In most countries tradition dictates that people wear their wedding ring on their left hand, although in a few countries such as Germany, Russia and Norway, people wear their wedding ring on the right hand.

Some couples would rather have a unique wedding ring and that is not so difficult to achieve as it might first appear to be. The easiest way to personalize your ring is to have an inscription like names and a date engraved on it.

Another way, would be to buy a precious stone separately and have the jeweller set it onto the ring for you. The best option though is to find a jeweller you can trust and have him or her make up a pair of identical rings to your own design. I have done that and it is not a lot more expensive than a good ring.

Wearing matching wedding rings is a notable experience. People notice that your ring is ’something different’ and many people ask, where you got them from. It all goes to help make that special day unforgettable for ever.

Advice On Dating

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Dating advice is all over the internet, in magazines, books, newspapers and on TV. There’s even an eight year old who wrote a book filled with great dating advice. (That kid is pretty smart and must be really good with the girls, because while basic, all of his dating advice rings true. If you’ve read the book, however, you’d be forced to admit that the eight-year-old boy does know what he’s talking about and he keeps it simple. The important thing in dating is to do just that and not complicate things.

Leave your past behind you. It’ll only get you bogged down. The first thing any dating-counsellor would advise you is that a fresh start is important for a date to go well. Talking to your date about how your ex mistreated you is definitely not the way forward. Sometimes it isn’t even necessary to talk, and a person who has been hurt once may be over suspicious of any new relationship and this could show in their attitude toward their date.

‘Do as you normally do - just be yourself’ is surely the best dating advice there is. Without dobt, people like to excel, to shine and impress their date, but faking it will only make both you and your date feel uncomfortable.

Making sure that your expectations are neither too high nor nor too low is also good dating advice. If you expect too much out of one date, or of the person you are dating, it is bound to be disappointing. Even your date is only human, and first dates are notorious disasters.

One of the most frequently asked questions is: who foots the bill? The consensus in dating advice is that he/she who suggested the date pays. However, other people declare that it’s better to go Dutch every time and avoid hassles. There is yet another school of thought on dating advice that suggests that the man is not a “gentleman” if he doesn’t pick up the tab. In the case of a difference of policy between you and your date, come to a compromise that is mutually acceptable.

Probably texting your date before your meeting is smart dating advise as it puts him or her at ease and allows you to discuss interests or hobbies in a much more informal way and less tense environment than your first date would be. That would allow you to use this as common ground when things get awkward (as they generally do on the first few dates unless there is an instant rapport) and get the conversation going again.

Basically, just remember, no matter how much dating advice you have, it’s all up to you in the end. No date is the be-all and end-all, so if one doesn’t work out, never fear, there will be others. No matter how difficult the first date seems, it does get easier until it’s actually fun.

Seniors Dating

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

A ’senior’, by definition, is a person older than yourself or, more broadly speaking, an older member of the community. ‘Dating’, by definition refers to the courtship between two people - which is often romantic - who are either hoping or not hoping to find marriage.

So, ’senior dating’ refers to the romantic courtship between two people who are considered older members of society, or the romantic courtship of two persons where at least one partner is an older member of society. When referred to as ’senior’, this doesn’t have to mean that the person must be over the age of perhaps - 60 years of age. People of above the age of, for example, 40 years are also thought of as ’seniors’, since people are thought to live ‘three score years and ten’ (70 years), half of which is 35.

Depending on which of the many senior dating services visited (especially by means of online senior dating), the age group targeted may vary. However, generally - senior dating is for those who are above 40 years of age.

Senior dating allows seniors, who could be divorced, widowed or still single, an opportunity to meet people of a similar age group and to share ideas and interests or, if a deeper bond is established between the two, a more meaningful relationship. This allows seniors to enjoy their life, just as they did when they were younger. Therefore, there are various senior dating services offered on the World Wide Web.

The profiles of clients in many of these these senior dating services, which are of course intended for seniors, do not often have photos in them, which gives those who have uploaded their photos an obvious advantage. People are apparently too worried about what they look like. Also, a few of these senior dating agencies offer specialist services such as anonymous email, instant messaging, chat rooms and forums.

When using these senior dating websites, one should be able to make new local friends, and communicate with each other appropriately, so that likely friendships can be found. Also, if you are meeting outside the online platform, you should be certain to meet in a public place - especially if you are meeting each other for the first time and do not know the person well enough.

A additional precaution you could take would be to inform someone you trust where you are going and with whom. However, if, for any reason, you begin to feel uneasy with the person you are with, just be polite and leave.

Although these safety measures are general knowledge, it is necessary to repeat them here, because it is preferable to be safe than sorry. You would be well advised to adhere to them too. In this way, senior dating will be shown to be a successful and safe way of permitting those who are divorced, widowed or have children, to be able to rebuild their lives and enjoy friendship with members of the opposite sex again.

Black Hills Gold Rings

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Most people have hopes for the future. Some people sketch out their lives in intricate detail from an early age, while others just hope that their dreams will come true. I think that that depends on the philosophy of life you have as much as your personality. I certainly remember when I was a boy, that a few of the girls I knew when I was a boy, planning what they would do when they got married to such and such a film star.

They did not know anything about marriage or what being married was like, they were just role playing, but some of those aspirations might have stuck.

None of the boys I knew thought about their future much at all. I did not either really although I knew that I wanted to go to university and travel after that. I studied French and German for three years and passed my exams.

After completing university, I began working for an international firm and did some traveling. I have always liked jewellery although I do not wear a lot at the same time. I suppose I collect jewellery, but I like to wear it too.

It was a custom of mine to buy a piece of jewellery wherever I went, if I saw something I liked and if I could afford it. Anyway, I met a young woman while I was in America and I told her about my craze for collecting jewellery and rings in particular. I showed her a couple of rings that I had taken with me. One was a ring with a Celtic Knot design and another was an Irish Claddagh ring.

Anyway, we got on well and so she offered to take me to a jewellers that she knew. We went to a small back street jeweller, who had a range of rings I had never heard of before. They were called Black Hills Gold Rings and they looked very distinctive. They have quite a range, including a lot of the common designs, but they also have a few patterns that I had never seen before. I was hooked and wanted one.

My friend really fell for a women’s wedding set. She had seen it in the window for months, but did not have anyone to give it to her. The engagement ring had two leaves and a grape cluster with a small diamond nestled in the middle of it, while the wedding band had two additional leaves and a grape cluster. This meant that when worn together, the two rings would fit together to surround the diamond completely. It was really very nice.

I had to grant that it was very beautiful, but felt it necessary to point out that I had not known her long enough to propose. She was a good sort and did not feel offended. I bought a striking white gold ring with the Black Hills gold roses inlaid on the top two thirds of the band, leaving the underside of the ring plain. It was a gorgeous addition to my collection. As for my guide, well, she did not get a ring, but I took her for an expensive meal and she seemed happy enough with that.

Advice On Asking Someone Out On A Date

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

OK, no more hesitations, this is the moment you have been dreaming of and it’s up to you to make it reality. But, how can you get that dream date? Naturally, you have to start from the beginning and that means to ask the person you are interested in out. Well, how should you invite a person out? Do you have to be assertive? Do you have to be coy? Perhaps you need a few tips to ask someone out?

The following are simple but essential tips you can use when you find it hard inviting a person for a date. These tips are great when you want to invite out the person you fancy. Firstly, know the right reason or reasons for asking a person out. When you know your reason(s), the right words will probably come to you.

What if the person says no? Don’t take it to heart and certainly don’t expect it. Take it gracefully and maybe have a light-hearted, self-effacing joke at the ready. However, for some people, it might be worth practising the words you want to say. To this end, try to keep the reasons for the date foremost in your mind.

However, the person might say “yes” and then you should know where to go, otherwise it seems as if you have not put much thought into it. As far as you can, be ready with ideas. See to it that you know how to answer whenever the person asks you why you are asking her out. You do not have to flatter, but you have to make sure that you make the person feel good. In this way you can show how thoughtful you are. Never pressure a person to go out with you.

If you did, the result would most likely be a disaster. Furthermore, don’t try to make them tell you why the outcome is negative. Furthermore, never stand anyone up. This means that when you ask someone out, you ought to mean it and you should not leave her stranded. If the person says no, do not get annoyed about it. Just move on and do not treat that person badly. Having some Dutch courage is certainly not a good idea.

It may just put you in a worse position. You have to be naturally confident. The more, the better, but not on a first date. When you want to ask a person for a date, do not do it when she is with a circle of friends.

These are really useful tips and you ought to take note of them. They will definitely help you out when you want to go out with that special person.

Investing In Gold - The Basics

Friday, April 30th, 2010

A very diversified investment portfolio has a minor opening for a position in gold. Some people think that investing in gold means buying gold coins, usually South African Kruger Rands, which are one troy ounce in weight. Other speculators buy gold futures on the commodity exchange.

However, futures contracts are extremely risky because you are betting that the value of gold will rise or fall in the future. The contract itself requires a relatively small up front payment, but you will have to put up guarantees called margin to take care of daily changes in cost.

The reason investors are attracted to gold at the moment is because often in the past, when the stock market is down, the gold market is up. Weakness in the dollar frequently brings a surge in the price of gold too.

Another route to investing in gold is through stocks and precious metal funds, which can be purchased through a stock broker. However, you will need to select your stockbroker very carefully, because this area of investing takes highly expert knowledge.

The following suggestions are meant as examples only as you will want up-to-the-minute information, if you are considering investing in stocks, shares and funds. One of the names that will crop up in any search is Agnico-Eagle Mines, which trades on the NYSE and the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker AEM. They have 30+ year history in the production of gold and In that time, they have produced 4,000,000+ ounces of gold.

Gold has made massive profits for investors in gold since the late 1970’s. However, the secret to making profits from gold is knowledge of the various resistance points in the price and the evaluation of the global market for the use of gold. It is used principally in jewellery and electronics and some other types of manufacturing.

The biggest markets for gold jewellery is India and other Eastern countries. China’s new-found prosperity is also having an effect on the markets, although manufacturing is still of prime importance there.

You will need a good stockbroker or adviser, because the gold market is so complicated. If you are speculating on gold as a hedge against a weak dollar, you are taking gigantic risks and you will need to watch for any strengthening in the dollar like a hawk. A pretty sensible approach is to set yourself reasonable goals. For example, are you content with a 10% profit or are you going to hang out for a 25% gain?

Gold can be affected by seasonal events. Check out when people in India get married. It is seasonal and around Christmas time. Then St. Valentine’s Day is a realistic influence too, but you or your adviser will have to examine the trends and the graphs.

You can invest in gold mining stocks for quite small money, but it is not the cost of the share certificate that is important, it is the return on those shares. Be on your guard with small mining companies, because the overheads of exploration are ruinous. Likewise, profits on hitting a big seam would be wonderful for a small company.

Wedding Dresses

Friday, April 16th, 2010

The wedding dress is just about the most crucial item in the wedding ceremony except the vows and the rings. The bride wants to look her best and the groom wants to look his best too. A beautiful wedding dress will help the bride’s dream to look dazzling come true.

Therefore, it is imperative to select the wedding dress with care, as every bride knows. However, there are a few items that are not as clear as the wedding dress just looking stunning and we will list the most significant of these below.

Besides individual taste in fashion, the most important consideration has to be the time of the year. Which season are you going to get married in? What temperature is it likely to be? Could it rain? If it is likely to be cold, you ought to wear a heavier cloth than if it is likely to be hot. You might also permit the season to have an influence on the colours you wear, but that is a matter of personal taste. For example, winter colours might be slightly darker than summer colours.

Another vital factor when choosing the colour of the wedding dress is the skin colouration of the bride. This consideration is also true of the accessories. The bride will also need a head-dress, a veil, gloves and a bouquet, all of which should flatter the wedding dress and the bride’s hair and skin colouration.

Try to get a wedding dress that fits perfectly. This sounds obvious, but it is easy to think that you can make minor alterations yourself later on. However, making alterations is not as easy as it sounds and you could end up making matters worse rather than better. In any case, you do not want to be worrying that a stitch you made will break or come undone at the wrong moment. It is far more important to get a good fitting wedding dress than to get the precise colour that you want.

It is important to bear in mind the quality of the picture of the wedding dress, if you are buying or hiring from a catalogue or website. You also should leave plenty of time to be able to return the dress if you have to. The fact is that photographs are not always true to life and packers do make mistakes, so if your choice is not what you expected, when it arrives, you will need to have a couple of weeks to return it and receive a new one. Allow at least three weeks for the exchange; longer if you can.

White has always been the most popular colour for first time brides, but it is not a rule. Off-white or pastel shades look very good too and they will set you apart from the norm. Apple white or blush pink are very effective colours for a wedding dress, but as I said before, everything should be colour co-ordinated with the colour of the bride’s skin and hair and the bouquet, if you are dead set on carrying a certain bouquet of flowers, like, say, gardenias.

Growing Online Dating Relationships

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Just like with normal real-world relationships, online relationships need to be tended and to be allowed to grow over time. Here are a few quick growing tips:

1. Take Time and Make Time: Does your online partner email you regularly? Do you do the same? Neglecting to get in touch is considered rude, so treat each other’s time respectfully. If that respect is lacking, it could mean that it is time to move on.

2. Communication Needs to “Feel” Right For Both of You: If one of you is too pushy about organizing a meeting, for example, that can create bad feelings. So, please, don’t rush things; just take your time to learn more about each other and develop trust.

3. Respect Each Other’s Privacy: Don’t show the other person’s email addresses or digital photos to your friends, for example; especially if your online date emailed you the information in confidence.

4. Share Special Online and Offline Enjoyable Times: when online: send online greeting cards; links to favourite sites to upload digital photos of your favourite pet or car; download music and video clips; post on favourite forums of interest. When offline: if you’re exchanging addresses or post office boxes, send printed greeting cards and postcards and/or small items from your area (like a key chain with your state bird).

5. Share Recipes: People get tired of just discussing the weather, so a very popular subject to take refuge in is food. Sharing information about favourite foods and recipes will get things going and help create a point of contact; talk about your favourite cuisine and preferences. Do a search online for free recipes to share and take photos of your culinary creations and share them with your online date as well.

6. Bidding at Auctions: Ebay auctions sell anything and everything! Therefore, look around and enter searches like the dates you were in middle school. Share cool photos of old games and toys from when you were a child or when your parents or grandparents were small.

Online dating should be an educational and fun experience. So, go on, learn more about each other and have fun while youre doing it! Take a cyber-stroll down ol’ memory lane together and see what’s cookin’. Tend your online friendship, water it with care and over time it can sprout and grow.

The Wedding Ring

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

One’s wedding ring is often a person’s most essential item of jewellery, because of the huge significance that it has for its wearer. It is intended to denote the love that exists between two people. In most countries, the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand - the ring finger, although in Norway, Germany and Russia, it is worn on the fourth finger of the right hand.

It is usually a good idea to have your finger measured by an expert, before buying an expensive ring, because fingers swell and shrink over the course of a lifetime and a good jeweller will know how much leeway to allow. If the change in the size of your finger is likely to be lasting, it is a good idea to have the ring resized, this is so that it will neither cut into you nor fall off your finger easily.

These days a lot of couples like to go shopping for wedding rings together, because they want to buy a pair of matching rings that both of them likes. However, it does not have to be like that. In fact it never was, because the man bought the ring for his girlfriend as a surprise. So, if you do not have the same tastes, do not worry about it.

There are hundreds of styles to pick from and several types and qualities of metal too. Yellow gold is still the most popular, but there is white gold and specialist golds too like Welsh gold, which is very rare. Besides gold, platinum and titanium are very popular too.

A fast emerging trend is for a couple to design or have designed a unique pair of wedding rings. At first, you would think that this would be very expensive, but it is not necessarily so. If you keep your design modest and the stones, if any, equally so, then the rings might only cost 10%-20% more than those off the shelf.

Gold is still the most popular metal for a wedding ring, but silver is starting to gain ground too, although it was always looked on as the poor cousin before. Likewise, diamonds are the still the number one stone of choice, but sapphires are also very popular nowadays. Or you could go for plain bands with something like a Celtic knot design.

Shopping for wedding rings can be fun, but it is easy to go over the top and spend much more than you intended to. You could determine how much you can afford and stick to it, not that that always works either. Expect to pay a lot more for the bride’s wedding ring than the groom’s. This is because the bride’s ring usually contains diamonds, whereas the groom’s is often a plain band of gold.

You could further personalize your wedding rings with a dedication and a date. Personalized, or unique wedding rings often get handed down through the generations. Maybe, yours will too. Or, if you want to wear your grandmother’s handed-down ring, you could personalize it in some way, so that it is both old and yet something of you as well.
