When Did Halo 3 Come Out?

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

On May 15, 2007 the information was published, that Halo 3 would be released on September 25 in North America and the 26th in Europe. Halo 3 marked the third in a very popular series for the Xbox 360 called ‘Halo’. According to the vice president of Microsoft’s interactive entertainment business, Halo 3’s release was much more than only a video game release, it was the biggest entertainment event of the year. He might just have been right as well.

The history of Halo 3 really starts with the release of the first game in the series ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’. In November, 2001, when Halo was first released, game consoles were somewhat of a joke for one person shooter games. Yes, some games existed, but there weren’t the popular communities that the PC games in the genre had.

That all changed with Halo, in which players could fight aliens on foot and in vehicles, in order to complete objectives, while trying to uncover the secret of the Halo. Halo pioneered limiting the amount of weapons a player could carry to two, which in turn, meant forcing the player to make strategic decisions.

Enthusiasts waited for the release of Halo 3 with baited breath. They awaited the continuation of the one-person, shoot-em-up combat format that had been prevalent in the two former parts of Halo. Microsoft calls it the ‘Golden Triangle of Halo’, which consists of gun-type weapons, grenades and others. In reality, this was not new to one-person, shoot-em-up games, as it had existed since the very first Doom and even the predecessor to that game, “Wolfenstein”.

So, with all of that history behind it, people were very excited about the Halo 3 release date. How popular and welcome was the game? Well, before its release, 3.1 million copies were sold in advance orders and retailers were sure that that was insufficient.

The game grossed $300 million in the United States in just its first week. Overall it has sold over nine million copies worldwide and was the best-selling video game in the USA in 2007. Even the critics loved it, ranking it the seventh highest on the all-time list of Xbox 360 games.

The Halo 3 release date, like the release date of many widely popular video games was almost like a national holiday like Christmas or Easter. It beggars the question of just what will happen with video games in the near future?

Halo 3 Screenshots

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

When a video game series is as widely famous as the Halo set is (which includes Halo 3, of course) then it’s bound to result in there being thousands of screenshots available. This piece focuses on some of the weird and wild Halo 3 screenshots.

Before getting on to the Halo 3 screenshots specifically, let’s take a look at the figures that create all of this media. Over 9 million copies of Halo 3 have been sold so far. That means that if each person who purchased the game plays for only 10 hours, there are more than 90 million hours of game time from which to choose screen shots. A lot can take place in 90 million hours, and with all the picture-uploading websites available to people, loads of it has been documented.

One of the things in Halo 3 that has frequently been documented in Halo 3 screenshots is what Master Chief looks like or more specifically, what his face is like. If you use a search engine to look up the top 10 Halo 3 screenshots, you’ll find a screenshot of Master Chief lying dead on the ground, clearly not showing a face inside his helmet. This explains why we never see his face, say many people, because he does not really have one.

Another one of the top Halo 3 screenshots showing in the 10 most popular Halo 3 screenshots is the one of a Marine getting hammered on a floodgate. Someone posted that it looked a little bit like Han Solo when he was frozen in Carbonite. And guess what? - they’re totally right.

The designers of Halo 3 wanted to make it a lot simpler for people to take Halo 3 screenshots and to share them all over the Internet. To accomplish this, they created a ‘Saved Films’ feature in the game. This feature permits people to slow down the action, or even to freeze it, change the camera angles and even move the camera around to get exactly the screenshot they want to have. Generally speaking, the ‘Save Films’ feature records all the action that takes place in the game, so it can later be turned into videos are screenshots.

Another feature that has a little bit to do with Halo 3 screenshots in the ‘Save Films’ feature, is the viewing of previously saved films. You see, the saves are not just images or video, they’re actual game data. This means two things: 1] the file size is very small and 2] the whole game can be watched from different angles on the Xbox 360.

This means to say that a person could replay a game again and again, seeing new things in new places every time they watch it. That’s a lot better than plain Halo 3 screenshots.

Teeth Whitening System: The Opalescence System

Friday, July 31st, 2009

People like their teeth to be both pearly and white. It may sound a truism, but then it is true. People like to have beautiful teeth. One could even say that people are particularly vain concerning their teeth. This is because when meeting people, the teeth are definitely the first feature to be noticed. We smile in order to show people that we are friendly. There are even people who rely on their smiles in order to make a living. These are the reasons behind the popularity of such products as the Opalescence teeth whitening system.

The Opalescence teeth whitening range allows you to take the system home and do the whitening there. This might seem like unnecessary work for some people, but to others, it means convenience. These days, people often do not have the free time to go to the dental surgery for teeth whitening. Others choose to get a tan instead of having their teeth whitened. This is why the Opalescence teeth whitening system is so popular. Convenience is definitely a priority these days.

How does the Opalescence teeth whitening system work? Well, first of all, you have to know that the Opalescence teeth whitening system is a professional-grade bleaching system. This means that it can whiten your teeth faster than most other over the counter teeth whitening systems. The reason for this is the fact that most over the counter teeth whitening systems contain only about 3 to 10 percent hydrogen peroxide. However, the Opalescence teeth whitening system has a 38 percent concentration of hydrogen peroxide.

While most teeth whitening systems require the use of a bleaching light in order to ‘activate’ the product, the Opalescence teeth whitening system is the first one which say the use of the light as ‘optional’. People like this because it is often the case that the cost of the bleaching light is undeniably higher than the cost of the actual product. Another interesting fact is that lately, many dentists are discovering that ‘tests’ regarding the use of bleaching lights seldom prove that the light is necessary|needed to stimulate the hydrogen peroxide.

Although you are free to take the Opalescence teeth whitening system home and apply it yourself, it is still recommended that you get a professional to whiten your teeth for you. This is because the Opalescence teeth whitening system produces the best results when in the hands of a experienced user. It usually takes about 90 minutes from preparation of the mix to the end of the whole procedure. That’s it! Just ninety minutes and then you will have brighter, whiter teeth!

Besides providing you with brighter, whiter teeth, the opalescence teeth whitening system also offers you other benefits. Many teeth bleaching systems can create sensitive teeth and therefore, deny you the pleasure of eating ice cream, the opalescence teeth whitening system actually reduces the problem of sensitivity, which means that you do not have to give up the pleasure of eating certain hot or cold foods just to have a great smile.

A further complaint that people have about a lot of bleaching agents is that they sometimes cause teeth to become vulnerable to cavities. However, the opalescence teeth whitening system actually strengthens the enamel, making it harder and reduces the likelihood of cavities.

The opalescence teeth whitening range offers great advantages to anyone who uses the it. You will get brighter, whiter teeth in a convenient and painless way. So why are you waiting?

What is a Halo 3 Mod?

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Generally, a Halo 3 mod is considered to be any software modification that alters the game play in the very popular video game for the Xbox 360, Halo 3. But the term also encompasses many other modifications, such as physical alterations made to the Xbox 360 console to show everybody that you are a hard-core Halo 3 fanatic.

However, before someone can create a Halo 3 mod, they need the proper tools, together with some technical expertise and knowledge. These tools would usually includes a number of pieces of software that allow people to de-construct, edit, and reconstruct Halo 3 files. It would also involve some hardware to allow the Xbox 360 hard drive to be uploaded into a PC and the files to be restored to that hard drive.

This is necessary because the Xbox 360 is not a unit on which files can be altered. Previously, the hardware developers, in this case Microsoft, would make the tools available to people who paid the licensing fee. But over time, especially with Halo 3 mods, the community has developed a number of tools and techniques to accomplish what has to be done for modification.

A Halo 3 mod also includes, as written earlier, physical changes to the Xbox 360 console. Some people, for example, remove the case and actually carve the words ‘Halo 3′ into it. They might also accompany this by painting the console red, blue or green to match the colour of the armour of the characters in the game.

However, it’s a rather extreme way to announce to the world - I like Halo 3 - in that it could result in actual damage that renders the Xbox 360 unplayable. People often display their customized Xbox 360s on photo-sharing sites such as Flickr and when they go toattend live LAN events.

One of the things that people who are interested in the world of the Halo 3 mod try to insist on is that these should not be used for the purpose of cheating. Modifications are fun to get a new aspect on Halo 3 play or a new look for certain levels. But if they’re used to make the game unfair in favour of one person or team, they ruin the overall game experience for everyone.

One website where a person can find many a Halo 3 mod is H3mod.com. The site calls itself the ‘future of Halo modding’. It seems to be a good place to begin if you really want to learn about a Halo 3 mod.

Halo 3: Bring It On!

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

The other day, while surfing the Internet for details on the Halo 3 weapons cheats, I came across a number of what-if scenarios? What if Master Chief took on different famous characters from films, comic books, and legends? Here is a list of some of these battles and my idea of the result.

While it is technically not a Halo 3 weapon cheat, the match-up of Master Chief versus Robocop would be hot. According to the information on the Internet both have some similarities. They’re both human, they’ve both been enhanced, they both have fantastic armour and they are both experienced combatants. Most respondents thought that Master Chief would defeat Robocop, but let’s be honest here, Master Chief can be defeated with a hand-gun, whereas Robocop was still going after being blown up at a gas station. The victor has to be Robocop.

If Master Chief battled with the next fighter he would do well to have a Halo 3 weapon cheat. I’m talking about MacGyver. Master Chief has a lot going for him. He is proficient with a number of weapons; he has that fantastic armour; he has some incredible vehicles at his disposal; he’s a Clint-Eastwood-type loner and he can regenerate himself. However, in short, MacGyver has brains. It would probably boil down to the same thing in a fight between Batman and Superman. However, if it’s a closed arena where it’s man against man, Master Chief will win. But put this battle in the real world with Swiss army knives and duct tape at his disposal, and MacGyver’s going to murder our bionic pal.

So far Master Chief is 2-0 down, it’s starting to look like he can really use a Halo 3 weapon cheat. But let’s give him another go. This time it’s Master Chief versus Terminator. We already know Master Chief’s strengths, the Terminator’s consist of an ability to master any weapon, relentless willpower, indefatigability, amazing detrermination to destroy his target. It all boils down to the Spartan laser weapon. As one respondent pointed out, if Master Chief can destroy vehicles with this weapon he can certainly put a pretty big hole in the Terminator too.

Let’s have one more battle before Master Chief discovers his Halo 3 weapon cheat. What would he do against Boba Fett from Star Wars? The main differences between Master Chief and Boba Fett are that Boba has no shields, owns his own ship and has a jet pack.

Many people believe Star Wars would come out on top in this battle, but Master Chief’s weapons are far more powerful than those owned by the bounty hunter. This one makes it evens at 2-2.

So, those are the results. In this small poll that we found on the Internet, Master Chief is your average sort of super hero, who is not sure to win every fight, unless he finds his weapon cheats or the story writers want him to, that is.

Home Theater Lighting

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Light fixtures are things that not many of us think about very often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain way or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscaping design.

Are you planning to remodelredecorate a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, because my friend, Owen Jones, asked me to give some advice. I definitely think that you should consider light fixtures as one element to change. For instance, you could commence by abandoning the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

I would suggest installing four or even six small wall-lights. These are not expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any budget. The only drawback with wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires would really have to be cut into the wall so as not to be unsightly.

But, you could get around this by buying standard lamps. These are also available in a myriad of designs, but they come with two disadvantages: namely trailing wires and a higher cost. They are very easily moveable though. Small, table lamps is a sub-class of this alternative, but you may need more electrical sockets.

Once you have decided on what you want, have each lamp dimmable either in unison or separately, up to you. You should probably keep one fairly powerful light at the business end of things in case the equipment needs seeing to, but it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be stunning. And all from just changing the existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even go the whole hog and have an exit sign over the door or a few speciality lights higher up out of line of sight so that they are not distracting ” say, a 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be prepared.

So, whatever style home theater lighting you are thinking of, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to choose from. From different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many. You can find them online or in home improvement shops. I have made a link to one of my online favourites below.

Furthermore, when you do implement the changes, you will notice that your home theater has taken on an ambiance all of its own and it will “definitely” enhance your home movie theater experience. In fact, it may be these subtle changes, room by room, that make you see your home in a very different light.

Home Movie Theater Screens

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

When it comes to deciding on a projection or TV screen, the first consideration is the type of screen you want or even may need. If the room where you are going to set up your home movie theater is a big one, then you will need to have a home theater projection screen or maybe you just want to go down that route anyway.

I, personally, like the idea of having a drop-down screen, but sometimes you have to have one even in a modest home theater. It converts your living room into a home theater: you recline in your chair; click a button and a screen drops down; click a button and the lights dim; click another one and the movie begins!

If you prefer a television screen, then you might consider buying a new one if you can afford it. They say that a 27 inch screen is big enough, but I do not think that it is. In my opinion, you really need 48-60 inches, but then I am a baby-boomer and my eyes are definitely not what they used to be.

If you are purchasing a new TV for your home movie theater, I think you should aim high. HDTV is already here and since February 2009 the USA has been committed to High Definition. Therefore, I would ensure that your new television is able to receive it. Then I suggest that the new home movie theater screen be a flat one in order to reduce the annoying glare that could ruin your experience, which could be another reason for choosing a projection screen.

Then you should ensure that the new TV has enough input and output sockets for the equipment you have in mind and you’re done. Therefore, to summarize, I would go for:

At least a 27 inch screen

A flat screen

HDTV enabled

Sufficient input and output sockets

Satellite enabled

I recommend satellite compatibility because it is probably the future or near future at least. If you get a satellite TV connection you will have access to HDTV downloads which you can watch whenever you like.

In my opinion, you really need 48-60 inches, but then I am a 50 something year old and my eyes are definitely not what they once were.

More than a 27 inch screen

HDTV compliant

Plenty of input and output plugs

Satellite compatibility

I would definitely recommend satellite compatibility for the TV receiver because it is the future or even the near future. If you get a satellite television connection you will be able to store HDTV downloads which you can watch on your new home movie theater set-up whenever you like.

Home Tinseltown Movie Theater

Home Tinseltown Movie Theater

You can experience the entertainment of the Tinseltown Movie Theater right in your very own living room.

Nearly everyone would say that the cinema or movie theater is a good place to watch movies and relax - that is the wonder of a Tinseltown movie theater.

Without doubt, the explanation for this is because you can watch the movie on a extra-wide screen with stereo sound that can easily make you get lost in the storyline of the film

The high quality of the Tinseltown picture and the real-life sound system are obviously the most entertaining part of the cinema-going experience. It definitely is not being in the cinema complex itself! They are usually full of shops vying for your money before you take your seat and full of paper-rustling yobs after you have sat down!

However, what if you could bring this high-tech system home with you? And what if it worked out less expensive as well? Obviously, this would surely be something you would enjoy more. Just think about it for a minute: a real Tinseltown Movie Theater in the house ” in your house!

Before not so long ago, only very few American homes had boughta Tinseltown movie theater to be used in their own houses. In recent years, however, a good percentage of American households are starting to be less interested in going out:travelling to watch Tinseltowns movies in a cinema hall.

Surely, this has to do with the evolution of the home movie theater system.

A basic home movie theater is relatively easy to install. All you need is a television with a screen that measures bigger than 27 inches, a DVD player and three common or garden speakers. And there you have the basic components of a Tinseltown movie theater. This is possibly enough to give you the level of home movie entertainment that suits you.

However, I have no doubt that you want the authentic feeling of sitting in a full-sized Tinseltown movie theater, but without the distractions ” or possibly its you, who likes to sing along, shout out loud or otherwise get involved in the movie, but doesnt like to annoy the other viewers. Could be, yknow.

In any case, the reason why I am saying this is because there are other items of equipment you might add in order to upgrade the home Tinseltown movie theater experience. A few additions, over time, say, which would ensure a rather more authentic Tinseltown movie theater experience right in your very own living room.

For instance, you could add to the above mentioned three vital pieces of equipment by installing specialist home movie entertainment reclinersfurniture; a refrigerated drinks cabinet; a few small tables for amuse-bouche; adjustable lighting on remote; air conditioning or fans; an usherette with a torch - OK, maybe thats going a bit too far Nevertheless, everything is dependent on your budget you set for your home Tinseltown movie theater. The proportions of the room are another consideration which determines how splendid your home Tinseltown movie theater can be.

A good tip from home theater boffins is that you need to find the correct sized television screen for your Tinseltown home movie theater. The proper size does not necessarily mean the biggest you can find in the store. The correct sized television depends on the location in your residence where you have decided to install the home movie theater. “Big” is not always the right choice for your home movie entertainment system. It is, nevertheless, to be advised that the television screen should not be less than 27 inches, because the picture on a smaller screen could be disappointing for a Tinseltown home movie theater. A good rule of thumb is that the seating should be roughly 5-8 times the diameter of the television screen away for average eyesight.

Another recommendation is that you find speakers that will give you high fidelitysurround sound from a high quality brand of speakers. In addition, you need to make certain that if the speakers you bought do not give enough surround sound, then you are able to exchange them. There are speakers that sound great in the shop but when you put them in a room, they sound inadequate. If the store allows replacements, then that is all is well and good.

In addition, you may need to buy a DVD player. Once more, quality is important. It is the belief of many home theater enthusiasts that all DVD players deliver clear and crisp images. Although some DVD players guarantee a flicker-free picture, almost all DVD players provide this feature, so I shouldnt be overly swayed by this claim.

Therefore, size is important, in this case. Knowing what the dimensions of the room are where you will set up your home Tinseltown movie theater, will be the deciding factor of how big the screen needs to be. The size of the room is also the basis for evaluating the number of speakers. If the location is of a size, you may have need of more than the starter kit three speakers. Adding a subwoofer may help too, to achieve a good surround sound if your home Tinseltown movie theater is situated in a bigger room again.

All of these factors will allow you such a home Tinseltown movie theater experience as, a few years ago, only a few could experience. A professional home movie theater designer may be a big help in ensuring you have the best home Tinseltown movie theater set up to give you the best possible home movie theater experience right there in your very own living room.
